Challenge arose in the basement under “Astral Healer” in USA in 1973, inspired by the “Jesus Revolution” – a flower-power-like movement that began in the United States. The year before, a group of young Christians had set up a magazine in Norway under the name “The Challenge”, and after discussions with these initiators, a group of Danes started a similar project. Among the initiators was Jorgen Vium, a young architect who later became the owner of the Challenge and – after it had become an independent institution – its first director.
